“It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.” – Jeremiah 27:5
I find it incredibly amazing how quickly we forget that God is God, and we are not. What is more amazing is the fact that if we fail to grasp this reality, He will show us that He is indeed God.
Some of us talk about God as if He doesn’t exist. We judge His actions and presume to know better. We ignore His existence. If by His mere grace we wake up to reality, we again soon forget that God is God, and we are not. He knows what’s best for us. He has a mind of His own. He runs the universe with His feet up. He does, according to Jeremiah 27:5, whatever He chooses and demonstrates His power to whomever, He chooses. He opens the eyes of whomever He chooses, and He gives mercy to whomever He wants.
The bottom line is this, we have no say over His decisions.
Friends, we have lost our awe at the greatness of our God. We have lost our fear of God. We have presumed His goodness. Yet God, who is love, refuses to hold our very sin against us. What a mighty and awesome God we serve! What a God we know! What a God we worship!
Are you living in awe of our God? Are you amazed by His grace?
Father in Heaven, Please forgive us if we have lost sight of just how awesome You are. Renew a right spirit in us, and let us once again bask in the glory of Your awesomeness. I ask this in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen
