The Best Way To Pray

Jesus said, “This is how you should pray:

“Father, may your name be kept holy.

May your Kingdom come soon.

Give us each day the food we need,

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.

And don’t let us yield to temptation.”  (Luke 11:2-4).

Jesus teaches His disciples the best way to pray. He gives them a “how to” in the science of prayer. A science can be defined as, “a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject”. Jesus teaches prayer as a science. It is a science in the study of the supernatural.

The structure of prayer is the strategy of prayer. Jesus emphasizes, “how”. How we pray will determine whether or not our prayers are answered. We don’t have to guess about how to get a “yes and amen” every time we pray. Jesus taught us to pray the best way.

  1. Call Him, “Father”

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.(Romans 8:15-16).

  1. Celebrate His Name

I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever (Psalm 145:1-2).

  1. Claim His Kingdom

And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; His kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him (Daniel 7:27).

  1. Collect His Provisions

Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing (Psalm 34:9-10).

  1. Cause His Forgiveness

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours (Matthew 6:14-15).

  1. Complete His Will

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it (I Corinthians 10:13).
