The Decline of the Age of America

It has been short-lived to say the least. That is, this experiment called “America”.  America is experiencing decline. A young nation like ours should be on the grow and go, yet we are not. There is plenty empirical evidence coming from the culture that reminds all of us that we are watching a great nation move swiftly into a decline.

What are the cultural clues that we are in decline as a nation?

1) The love of luxury. Becoming addicted to affluence is expensive and deadly.

2) Widening gap between the very rich and the very poor. A dwindling middle class leads to class warfare.

3) Obsession with sex. The greatest internet interest in the world is pornography.

4) Freakishness in the arts. Modern artists want to shock people rather than inspire them.

5) The desire to become a “welfare” State. We need to put good tax-paying citizens back to work.

The five points listed above come from Gibbon’s The Rise and Fall of Rome. Each of these are the reasons he cites for why Rome fell so utterly after 2000 years of world domination.

We must learn from history or we are doomed to repeat it.

Pray for the nation!  This is the National Day of Prayer!

“Father God, in the name of Jesus reverse the decline. Cleanse us by the blood and give us a new heart and a new spirit so we can reach this nation with the message and ministry of the gospel. We expect souls to be brought into the kingdom of God because of what You will do by your Spirit and through your people in this nation. We praise You for your mighty works and for raising up a holy nation. Amen”.

The Death and Burial Of Bin Laden

What does the death and burial of Osama Bin Laden mean to the kingdom of God?  What spiritual significance is attributed to this historic moment in the life of America and the world?  Is there more to the end of Bin Laden than meets the natural eye?

What you are seeing in the natural around the world is happening in the spirit realm. “Howbeit, that was not first is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual” (I Corinthians 15:46). These are signs of a greater struggle.  World events are swiftly toppling dictators and terrorists that have ruled destroying countless lives and destabilizing historic nations.

There is an assault on evil. The Body of Christ has begun to move into its rightful place of offense. We are taking the fight to the enemy. We are scoring death blows to the plans of the devil. The powers of darkness are now in disarray for an announcement has been loosed into the earth by events unfolding that a new season of exposing and destroying evil has dawned. This is not just about Bin Laden or America. This is about the end-time army of the Anointed One that is marching against the hordes of hell!

The death of Osama Bin Laden is a blow to the kingdom of darkness. The enemy of our souls, the devil, has been using Bin Laden for nearly two decades to produce mass fear around the world and especially among Westerners. Hebrews 2:15 speaking of the devil’s power over people says, “…through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to the bondage”.  The bondage wasn’t death. The bondage was the fear of death. Death is conquered once you remove its fear factor.

How we travel on airplanes, how we enter and exit federal facilities, how suspect foreigners, how we view vital national interests, how we launch wars, how we define homeland safety, how we conduct national security, it is all based on the fear that was brought to our doorstep on 9/11. That is why it is called “terrorism”. The purpose of terrorism is to keep you living in fear. If the enemy can keep you in fear  he can control your lifetime.

The death of Osama Bin Laden is the death of an American psyche. For those who have little use for the Obama administration a pause should be given to the good done on his watch concerning changing how America sees itself in the world. We should thank the Lord that he used President Obama to lead captive our captivity. We have been delivered, as a nation, from an iconic fear.

Now that Bin Laden is dead the face of terrorism has been destroyed. The mortal wounds Bin Laden suffered were facial. His countenance was destroyed. That sly, arrogant, faint and evil smile is gone. He was shot through the eye by Navy Seals. His vision for the world will never come to pass.

He lived in a mansion with all the comforts of a millionaire while those who claimed his cause lived in the rugged and mountainous regions on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He asked others to give their lives while he spent the last ten years doing everything he could to save his own. Bin Laden is an anti-Christ spirit. The difference could not be more stark. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave up his mansion to live among us. He gave his life in order to save others. His life was meaningful. Bin Laden’s life was just mean.

He was buried at sea so we are told by our authorities. Bin Laden was buried at sea so that no shrine, no tomb, no crypt would ever hold his body. There will be no place where the pilgrims of Islamic extremism will be able to gather and console each other over his  resting place. Bin Laden was more dumped out to sea than buried. “Buried” almost has a certain kind of honor sound to it. His body was thrown to the water and the fish. Tossed and driven like the sea is a fitting feature for this mad man’s end.

Let the record show, let history bear witness and let all men take notice: evil will not win as long as God reigns. Evil men die. Corrupt crowns topple and fall. Murderous thrones rule and then fade. Sadistic scepters are taken out of frail hands. Empires enslave and then are enslaved.  The kingdom of our God is an everlasting kingdom. His kingdom is without end and his dominion is forever!
